Denise J Charles is an educator with over 25 years experience spanning both Secondary and Tertiary education. Apart from teaching at the Secondary level and a brief stint in Guidance and Counselling, she has worked in distance education, teacher training, curriculum design and educational planning. She is the former Academic Coordinator of Mount Saint Vincent University’s Bachelors and Masters programme in Curriculum, offered by distance in Barbados. Currently she is an Educational Officer with the Ministry of Education, Science, Technology and Innovation in Barbados.
She holds a Bachelors Degree in English with History, a Masters in Education, a Diploma in Education with distinction and is a qualified Counsellor and Trainer. She is also a Doctoral candidate at the University of the West Indies, majoring in Educational Leadership with a specialisation in Higher Education and is an adjunct faulty member, at the UWI Open Campus in Barbados. Apart from teaching, she leads a community-based charity, serves as Artistic Director of a creative arts group, is a radio talk-show host and is the author of two motivational books. This blog will feature her musings, some research and literature reviews on current trends in General Education, Higher Education and leadership as these relate to the need for dynamic change in the digital era.
